7th grade, thursday 2/18

We did several things today. We started with an interesting activity on divergent thinking (what can you do with a brick -- we got many curious answers).
then we asked students what they already knew about math transformations. I thought that students probably already know a lot on this topic and I was correct. I'll use this information, along with what the state says they need to know about them, to prepare one or two brief lessons to close the gap on this topic.
We finished with an activity on Pythagorean Theorem problems, including the hard ones (word problems) and the hardest one -- using a pythagorean theorem problem inside another pythagorean theorem problem. I think we are done learning about this topic -- but we probably need to have a quiz soon and do some more practice on the word problems. there was NO ASSIGNMENT.
