Back into fractions today -- multiplying and dividing them.
One group still needs to get me their thanksgiving dinner project by tomorrow. Eleven students still haven't turned in those mystery pictures.
I showed a model (rectangle) to use -- it's helpful to some but not to all.
Multiplying fractions is easy, though, just multiply the numerators (top times the top) and denominators (bottom times the bottom) then simplify.
Dividing is the opposite of multiplying so we just turn division problems into multiplication ones by taking the reciprocal (flip it) of the second number. So 1/2 divided by 3/4 is the same as 1/2 times 4/3.
Students did well in class -- the assignment is to finish itmes 13 - 30 on the handout (Reteach 5-3)
I have written to Santa asking for kleenex and dry erase markers. Hope I've been good.
