7th grade, Tuesday, Nov 10

We started with an interesting problem -- solved two parts and the other two are bonus points if solved this week. These are:
1) how many different ways are there to make 53 cents in change (e.g. one way is 53 pennies)?
2) if you purchased an item that costs $2.99 plus 6% tax and paid with a $20.00 bill, what would be the minimum number of coins the cashier could give you as change?

Today we did finish our dividing with decimals task -- those who did a good job on it yesterday earned 10 points and started the final decimal assignment (which reviews all decimal operations). Those who did a good job on today's in-class assignment earned 9 points and have no homework assignment. Those few who didn't complete it well enough yesterday or today were given additional practice items to complete as homework. Their top grade will be 8 points, if all are completed correctly when turned in tomorrow.
